BTS tattoos keep grabbing attention—and for good reason. The members have barely left the military and the entire fandom is already buzzing: What’s Jungkook’s new tattoo. We caught just a glimpse of Jungkook’s new ink during his surprise appearance at j-hope’s second-to-last show on the Hope On The Stage Tour, on June 13.
We don’t have any details yet about that one, but we can talk about the many other tattoos of Jungkook, Jimin, and of course, all the known BTS tattoos—since now every member has at least one.

What Does the BTS Tattoo Mean? The meaning behind BTS’s most iconic tattoo
The one tattoo all BTS members share is a minimalist number “7”—a clear tribute to the fact that “BTS is 7”.
This is without a doubt one of the most symbolic BTS tattoos, carrying the spirit of unity that defines the group.
It’s a friendship tattoo, a sign of their bond that started in 2022. Each member chose a different placement, making it personal and unique, while still sharing a deep, collective meaning.
Interestingly, the idea to get matching tattoos didn’t come from Jungkook, who’s covered in tattoos, or Jimin, also a tattoo fan—but from RM, during the group’s 2022 FESTA video.
Back then, not all the members were tattooed. Jimin suggested a simple line on the same body part. Namjoon liked the idea. Jungkook added it would be a meaningful way to show their connection. The conversation took off from there.
Namjoon joked that even a single dot could work—but Jimin laughed and said it would look like a mole!
Then SUGA said it should be somewhere not easily visible. JK suggested making it purple. Nam asked if that wouldn’t fade.
A long and playful discussion followed. At the time, it seemed undecided—until fans started spotting the number 7 inked on different parts of each member’s body.
Which BTS Members Have Tattoos? Discover Who’s Part of the BTS Tattoo Lineup
Over time, each member got their own “friendship tattoo” on a body part of their choice. The BTS tattoo list was complete once all seven members decided to eternalize this symbol of unity on their skin.
We don’t know the exact date when each member got their number 7 tattoo, but we do know it was done by PolyC, Jungkook’s tattoo artist and a highly respected professional in South Korea.
Beyond symbolizing that BTS is 7, the number also carries meanings of perfection, balance, and a connection to the universe.
The Story Behind SUGA’s Tattoo
Of course, the one who kept it a mystery for the longest time was SUGA.
He was the last member to reveal where he got his tattoo—and it couldn’t have been more meaningful.
SUGA finally showed his tattoo during the final shows of his solo D-DAY Tour, and also in a post-show live broadcast, bringing joy to fans.
After countless requests on live streams and on Weverse, he revealed the tattoo on his shoulder—which had been injured and later healed after surgery. It’s a part of his body filled with memories—none of them pleasant.
SUGA couldn’t have chosen a better place. To “bury for good” the physical and emotional scars from a long-term injury, nothing is more fitting than a tattoo with such powerful meaning.

The BTS tattoos gained even more visibility when the members started posting photos of them on social media.
So where is Namjoon’s tattoo—the “mastermind” behind the idea?
Not too hidden, actually. He got it on his ankle, and since he often wears shorts, it’s easy to spot—especially now that he’s out of the military.
RM revealed the tattoo in his Instagram Stories back in 2022.
And since the idea was his to begin with, he was also the first to show it publicly.

The minimalist style made it easier for even those who had never shown much interest in body art to join in.
And yes, even J-Hope has a tattoo—on his calf, which he revealed on his Instagram profile.
Jimin got a delicate number 7 in a very visible spot: the inner side of his index finger.

Far from delicate, Jungkook had his number 7 inked on his ear—as we can clearly see in a post by his tattoo artist on Instagram.
Jin chose to place his “7” on his lower back, near the waistline. Check out PolyC’s post for a glimpse!
V got the “7” tattooed on his upper left thigh, an unusual spot—just like his personality.
You can spot it in PolyC’s post on Instagram.
Subtle—But Not That Much
Was Jimin the First BTS Member to Get a Tattoo?
There’s no confirmed info on who got the first tattoo in BTS—whether it was Jimin or Jungkook.
But one thing is certain: the first tattoo ever shown, even if temporary, was revealed by Jimin during his iconic 2014 MAMA performance, just one year after BTS debuted. It drew a lot of attention at the time.

The word “NEVERMIND”, inked along Jimin’s ribs, carries a profound emotional and personal meaning.
In Portuguese, “nevermind” translates to “let it go” or “forget it.”
This tattoo references the intro track of the same name from The Most Beautiful Moment in Life era, which would later be released in 2015—but was already in production when Jimin first painted it on his body.
The song begins with the lines:
Never mind, it’s not easy but don’t give up
It’s okay to not be okay
Composed and performed by SUGA, Intro: Nevermind speaks about enduring struggles and refusing to give up, even when everything seems to go wrong.
Tattoos can be both a form of self-expression to the world and a way to internalize a mindset forever.
It’s as if Jimin was telling himself: “Don’t care about what others say. Stay strong.”
It’s a reminder to keep going, even when facing insecurities, criticism, or fear.
Considering Jimin’s sensitive nature and the challenges he’s opened up about over the years, this phrase likely reflects his inner battles and his quiet determination to move forward.
What began as a temporary ink became permanent in 2019—and from there, Jimin didn’t stop.
What Tattoos Does Jimin Have?
Along with “NEVERMIND”, Jimin also has the number “13” tattooed on his finger. It could represent his birthday (October 13), BTS’s debut date (June 13)—or both!
He also has the words “Young” and “Forever” behind his arms, referencing the song Epilogue: Young Forever, plus a small infinity symbol on his arm.
But perhaps the most iconic tattoo of Jimin is the stunning crescent moons across his back, which we were able to see in more detail during the reality show “Are You Sure”.

Jimin’s iconic moon tattoo on his back started with a single crescent moon at the base of his neck.
Later, during a Weverse livestream, Jimin shared that V had shown him a fanart made by an ARMY, which depicted the different moon phases extending down the spine.
He loved the image and decided to bring it to life, adding multiple moon phases to his back.
The design grew from one moon into several—crescent, full, waning—flowing from the neck to the middle of his spine.
This has become one of the most touching BTS tattoos, as it merges Jimin’s personal journey with the love of the fandom, now immortalized in ink.
Although Jimin hasn’t explicitly explained the meaning, the moon phases often represent life’s cycles, with the moon symbolizing transformation, renewal, and the rhythm of rising and reflecting.
And the fact that he got a tattoo inspired by a fan’s art makes it even more special.
Is Jimin Sporting a New Tattoo?
Hold on—it’s just speculation for now.
After Jimin was discharged from the military in June, some fans noticed in photos and videos posted on platforms like Weverse and X a small, discreet design on his forearm.
There’s still no official confirmation, but visual evidence strongly suggests a new tattoo.
The pictures are blurry, and the shape is unclear.
If confirmed, it would be another exciting addition to BTS’s growing tattoo collection—one that keeps fans around the world captivated.
Jungkook’s New Tattoo
Yes, Jungkook got a new tattoo!
We still don’t know the full extent or exact design, but it’s clear that it’s colorful and bold—something that stands out even in glimpses.

On June 13, 2025, during the emotional Hope on the Stage Tour performance, Jungkook joined j-hope on stage—just two days after being discharged from the military.
It was a historic moment, and excitement grew even more when fans noticed something new: a colorful tattoo on his chest, seen for the first time as he wore a white tank top under a black jacket.
It was his first public appearance and felt like a gift to ARMY, who were already celebrating FESTA 2025.
Jungkook performed “I Wonder” with j-hope and went solo with “Seven”.
In photos and videos, part of his new chest tattoo stood out. If confirmed, this will be yet another iconic BTS tattoo, showcasing the individual identity each member expresses through their ink.
It’s almost certain that this new piece was done by PolyC, Jungkook’s close friend and trusted tattoo artist.
The Most Tattooed Member of BTS: How Many Tattoos Does Jungkook Have?
Tattoos are nothing new for Jungkook—he’s been collecting them since 2019.
Undoubtedly, he’s the most tattooed member of BTS. His body features ink across his hands, arms, and chest. The styles vary: tiny graphics, hearts, crowns, meaningful phrases, and of course, the iconic “0613” tattoo on the base of his hand.
His first permanent tattoo was the word “ARMY” inked across his right-hand fingers, first seen in September 2019, when he was photographed at the airport after a break.
In his own Weverse lives, Jungkook confirmed that this design—a tribute to the fans—was indeed his very first tattoo.
Just a quick look at Jungkook’s tattoos reveals how he has turned his skin into a visual diary of his journey.
BTS Inked: What Does Jungkook’s “0613” Tattoo Mean?
That number is deeply significant—it marks June 13, 2013, the official debut date of BTS.
It’s a powerful symbol of love, gratitude, and connection, reinforcing the bond between Jungkook and ARMY.
Many Tattoos… and a Few Cover-Ups
Like many tattoo lovers who eventually fill entire limbs, Jungkook has collected numerous designs over time—and has also regretted a few.
Some of them were covered up with new art, which is totally normal among tattoo enthusiasts.

Unlike Jimin, who is more discreet and prefers black, minimalist words or simple designs, Jungkook blends styles and loves color—a lot of it.
Among all BTS tattoos, Jungkook’s stand out for their greater variety of styles, symbols, and phrases, spread across many parts of his body.
Among his many tattoos, some are especially striking—like the word “ARMY” tattooed across his knuckles, a clear symbol of his love and dedication to the fans.
In addition to several letters, he also has a beautiful purple heart on his hand.
Jungkook also has numerous other designs inked, such as:
- A microphone, representing his passion for music
- A tiger flower or tiger lily (his birth flower)
- The phrase “Rather be dead than cool”, one of his personal mottos
- A serpent among the many tattoos on his arm, symbolizing growth and renewal
- And an old eye tattoo that was later covered by the word “Bulletproof”
Talking about all of Jungkook’s tattoos could go on for quite a while. After all, his body art has evolved over years, constantly transforming.
Tattoos as Personal and Artistic Expression
Nowadays, tattoos go far beyond aesthetics.
They’re a powerful form of expressing feelings, personal stories, and different life stages.
Whether it’s a symbol of overcoming something, a tribute, or simply something beautiful to the wearer, each tattoo holds a unique meaning.
For artists like the BTS members, tattoos also serve as an extension of their artistic identity—a way to eternalize on the skin what music often conveys through lyrics.
As we’ve seen with Jungkook, Jimin, and the others, body art can also symbolize friendship, growth, and personal evolution.
The BTS tattoos prove that ink on skin can represent far more than style—it tells a story of identity, journey, and emotional connection.
While tattoos are now widely accepted in both the West and the East as a form of art and personal expression, it wasn’t always that way—especially in more conservative societies, like South Korea itself.
For a long time, having a tattoo was seen as an act of resistance to societal pressure.
The K-pop industry was slow to accept tattoos, and even today, some agencies forbid idols from getting tattooed, at least in the early years of their contracts.
Of course, that doesn’t apply to superstars like BTS!
Tattoos in Korea: From Taboo to Personal Style
In the past, South Korea viewed tattoos as marks of criminals, especially during the Goryeo and Joseon dynasties (10th–15th centuries), when they were used to brand offenders as punishment—a permanent social stigma.
In the early 20th century, urban gangs adopted tattoos inspired by Japanese mafia (Yakuza) as a symbol of identity, reinforcing the negative perception.
To make matters worse, many older Koreans, influenced by Confucian values, believe that tattooing “damages the body given by one’s parents”—which made it seem disrespectful.
For a long time, people with tattoos were banned from public places like saunas and public transport, which deepened the stigma.
But despite this conservative history, the BTS members helped shift the perception of body art in Korea, showing that tattoos can be a gesture of identity and connection.
Of Course, Everything Has Changed Today
Today, young Koreans see tattoos as a form of style, fashion, and self-expression, breaking away from the old stigma.
About 1 in every 5 people in South Korea now has tattoos!
Not every BTS member shares Jimin and Jungkook’s passion for tattoos—and that’s completely normal.
Getting something inked on your skin should have meaning and truly reflect your deepest ideas and emotions.
It’s no surprise, then, that even those who may have never cared much for tattoos still chose to get the friendship tattoo—the number “7”—permanently inked as a symbol of unity.
More than just the biggest musical group of their generation, BTS is a chosen family—one that we, as fans, have also chosen to love.
And some of us have even gotten BTS-inspired tattoos ourselves.
As long as you’re over 18—and not afraid of needles—go ahead: pick your design and be happy!

A Special Message from Jungkook to PolyC (June 16)
“Thank you so much for saving my arm…
Please continue to take good care of me from now on too!”
– Jungkook –
A Heartfelt Letter from PolyC (Shared in June via Instagram Stories)
“When we first met, he felt very insecure about his tattoos.
He was even embarrassed to wear short sleeves during summer.
So, our shared goal became the ‘Short-Sleeve Summer Project’.
Over time, he got several tattoos on impulse.
I told him:
‘You’re now in a position of great influence. I hope you’ll think more carefully about your next tattoos, since so many young people look up to you and may follow your choices.’
Fixing his previous tattoos wasn’t easy.
The actual damage was far more serious than it looked in photos, and there were limitations regarding which themes could be used for cover-ups.
It was a complex process—maintaining real meaning while covering up old ink—and the pressure was so intense that I even experienced stress-related hair loss.
So I made a suggestion:
‘Your black-and-grey sleeve is something we’ve seen a lot.
Why not try something more vibrant and unique—something that truly fits your identity as JK?
It might not appeal to everyone, but you’re not like everyone else.’
He agreed.
Some people may think I used the fact that I tattooed JK as marketing or out of jealousy for the opportunity. But in reality, I felt immense pressure and responsibility to do my absolute best.
We completed about 70% of the work before his enlistment, and we’re still finishing it up as his schedule allows.
During the entire process, I kept picturing him on stage with these tattoos.
I thought about what style would suit him best. Now that he can finally wear short sleeves with confidence, that makes me truly happy.
This style may not be for everyone, but I believe it’s more unique than before—and in the end, it turned out well.
Some will support me. Others may feel uncomfortable that I tattooed JK.
But I’ve been doing this for 13 years, and I poured everything into this project: my skills, my experience, and my heart.
Since I’ve been receiving a lot of questions about JK’s new tattoo recently, I wanted to take this moment to share my thoughts here.”This story offers a deeper look into the care, meaning, and emotion behind BTS tattoos—a powerful reminder that each design is intentional and personal, crafted with passion and purpose.
