BTS’s Concerts and Tours in 2015

BTS's Concerts and Tours in 2015

2015 was a turning point for BTS on the global stage. With tours crossing continents and memorable concerts in both Asia and Western countries, the group expanded their reach and strengthened their bond with fans around the world. Here are the main moments of BTS on stage in 2015.

January to March – An intense start in Japan and “BTS Begins” in Korea

The year started with BTS’s 1st Japanese tour, titled “Wake Up: Open Your Eyes”, which went through cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka. There were 6 shows between February 10 and 19, all sold out, drawing about 25,000 Japanese fans. At the final show in Fukuoka, the group also did a live broadcast to movie theaters across Japan, expanding the tour’s reach.

In March, the group returned to Korea for the special concert “BTS Begins”, held in Seoul on the 28th and 29th. These two shows brought emotional performances of the earliest songs of the group’s career and symbolized BTS’s origins, with a total audience of about 13,000 people.

June to August – The “Red Bullet” world tour takes off across continents

The second part of the “2015 BTS Live Trilogy Episode II: The Red Bullet” tour, which started in 2014, expanded to other countries in 2015. The new leg included shows in:

  • Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) – June 6
  • Australia – Sydney (July 10) and Melbourne (July 12)
  • United States – New York (July 16), Dallas (July 18), Chicago (July 24) and Los Angeles (July 26)
  • Mexico (Mexico City) – July 29
  • Brazil (São Paulo) – July 31, with about 6,000 fans at Espaço das Américas
  • Chile (Santiago) – August 2
  • Thailand (Bangkok) – August 8
  • Hong Kong – August 29 (final show of the tour)

In total, this international leg of the tour went through 13 countries and drew about 80,000 people. Most shows sold out in minutes, showing BTS’s strength and growth outside Asia. The Latin American leg was especially meaningful, with fans camping out days in advance and a warm welcome that surprised even the members themselves.

November and December – The new era with “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life on Stage”

Still in 2015, BTS started a new series of concerts with the tour “2015 BTS Live <花樣年華 on stage>”, based on The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt.1 and Pt.2. This phase brought a more artistic, introspective concept, reflecting the group’s musical and visual maturity.

The first shows took place in Seoul on November 27, 28 and 29, at the SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium, with more than 12,000 fans over the three days. In December, the tour went to Japan with shows in Yokohama, and the Kobe dates planned for the end of the month were cancelled for health reasons (see December).

This new stage marked the start of an even bigger tour, which would expand throughout 2016 with dates in many other countries. The immediate success of the shows proved BTS was ready to fly higher, establishing themselves as one of K-pop’s biggest live forces.

Performances, shows and behind the scenes of 2015

2015 was the year everything sped up: the HYYH era, the first win, the world tour, the premiere of Run BTS!, Bokbulbok, BTS Gayo, “Eat Jin” and a shower of BANGTAN BOMBs and lives. It’s content to binge for days, and much of it is on the official BANGTANTV channel.

2015 marked the start of a new phase for BTS: beyond music, the group started investing in their own video productions, showing the public a more relaxed, competitive and fun side of the seven members. It was the starting point for lots of content that would strengthen the bond between BTS and their fans even more.

Below, get to know the shows launched in 2015 that revealed the boys’ charisma off stage — plus important appearances on Korean TV.

Besides the group’s shows, RM (BTS’s leader) was a regular cast member of tvN’s variety show Problematic Men. With his above-average intelligence and an IQ of 148, he took part in the show’s first 21 episodes, where celebrities solve logic problems, puzzles and intellectual challenges.

RM’s presence caught the Korean public’s attention and helped establish his image as a complete, articulate, brilliant artist. His time on the show only ended because of scheduling conflicts with the group’s world tour.

In March 2015, RM (still as Rap Monster) released “P.D.D (Please Don’t Die)”, a collaboration with legendary producer Warren G. The song, with a West Coast vibe, was recorded in Los Angeles and has RM sending a direct message to his haters. The creative process was recorded in three STARCAST episodes, showing the chemistry between the two artists.

Also in 2015, BTS took part in Lucky Draw, a series released on the NAVER STAR CAST platform. With short, funny episodes, the show put the members in random, unpredictable situations. Each episode featured a different game drawn on the spot, like charades, blindfolded hide-and-seek, cup stacking and more.

The simple idea revealed the members’ spontaneity and chemistry. Laughs were guaranteed, and the relaxed energy made every episode a surprise. Lucky Draw is a great example of how BTS can entertain naturally and creatively, even in the simplest formats.

Run BTS!

In August 2015, BTS premiered their own variety web series, Run BTS!, which quickly became one of fans’ favorite shows. In each episode, the members take on creative challenges, unusual competitions and hilarious games, split into teams or competing individually.

The series’ big charm is the boys’ lightness and authenticity — whether in absurd physical challenges, like volleyball played with their feet, or in logic, cooking or acting challenges. Screams, funny punishments and lots of competitiveness fill the episodes, with moments that became eternal memes in the fandom.

BTS Gayo

A few months after Run BTS! premiered, the group launched BTS Gayo, a series of short episodes built around music games focused on K-pop. Split into teams, the members compete to guess choreography, identify songs or complete tasks related to artists in the Korean music industry.

The episodes are full of references to pop culture and to the group’s own journey, mixing humor, rhythm and lots of interaction between the members. The idea was simple but extremely fun — perfect for anyone who wanted to see BTS playing and learning more about the music scene where they were building their own story.
