BTS Halloween costumes: the seven dressed as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 2017

BTS Halloween costumes: era ideas, BT21 and the costumes the members wore themselves

Halloween is around the corner and the same question pops up every year: which BTS Halloween costumes should you go for? Good news: there is no shortage of inspiration. The members themselves have dressed up plenty of times (in a way only BTS could pull off), the music videos are full of outfits that turn into costumes in no time, and BT21 saves the day for anyone who wants something cute.

We put it all together in this guide: the costumes the seven wore in their Halloween dance practices, era-inspired ideas for girls and guys, BT21 and ARMY BOMB costumes, makeup and, for anyone heading to a concert, what we know about going in costume.

The BTS Halloween costumes the members actually wore

Between 2014 and 2017, Halloween became a tradition on the official BANGTANTV channel: the members filmed dance practices in costume (the “Halloween ver.” videos). They are the best inspiration you could ask for, because each member picked a character that suits him perfectly.

2014: War of Hormone

The first Halloween dance practice, released on November 4, 2014, was set to “War of Hormone”, from the Dark & Wild era. The cast of villains and movie characters looked like this:

  • RM: Dracula
  • Jin: Jack Sparrow, from Pirates of the Caribbean
  • SUGA: Chucky, the killer doll
  • j-hope: prisoner in a striped uniform
  • Jimin: Charlie Chaplin
  • V: the Joker
  • Jung Kook: the Grim Reaper, hood and all

2015: the live Halloween party

On October 29, 2015, the group held the “Halloween Party with BTS” live on Naver’s V app. They opened by performing “Dope” in costume and then changed into suits to sing “I NEED U”. The official behind-the-scenes video shows each member’s costume and why he chose it:

  • RM: Gudetama, the lazy egg, in a onesie, with the plush toy as a bonus.
  • Jin: a pumpkin. He had picked a mummy, but gave up after trying it on because he couldn’t see a thing (he almost danced like that!).
  • SUGA: Naruto. His first idea was No-Face, from Spirited Away, but his face wouldn’t show; he switched to Naruto, which matched his blond hair at the time.
  • j-hope: Darth Vader, from Star Wars, in a hooded version so his face would show, with a lightsaber that lights up.
  • Jimin: a wizard, with the Mickey-style sorcerer hat and white gloves.
  • V: a vampire. He was torn between Harley Quinn and Dracula because he really wanted to look scary, and went all in with the vampire fangs, bloody tears and red contact lenses.
  • Jung Kook: Detective Conan. He considered Kingsman, Iron Man and L, from Death Note, and changed his mind days later; the glasses and the tranquilizer dart watch were the highlight.

The official party video is on BANGTANTV:

2016: 21st Century Girl

In 2016, the costumes got a lot cuter (and funnier). The “21st Century Girl” dance practice came out on October 29, 2016, with this cast:

  • RM: Ryan, the Kakao Friends lion
  • Jin: a cowboy, riding a toy horse
  • SUGA: hanbok, the traditional Korean outfit
  • j-hope: a skeleton
  • Jimin: a cabbage (yes, a cabbage)
  • V: Syaoran Li, from Cardcaptor Sakura
  • Jung Kook: a giant bunny

2017: Go Go, Snow White and the dwarfs

In 2017, for the first time, the costumes were coordinated: the “Go Go” dance practice, released on October 27, turned into a fairy tale. The seven played rock-paper-scissors to decide who would be Snow White, and V won the role, apple in hand. RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin and Jung Kook were the dwarfs. It is the perfect inspiration for a group costume.

After that, their schedule got busier and the Halloween dance practices stopped. In 2019 the group still posted Halloween videos on TikTok, and the spooky vibe was back in Run BTS! EP.24 – BTS vs Zombies, which aired on October 24, 2017, with the seven running from zombies at the Everland theme park. Worth a watch before your party:

Group costume: 7 friends, 7 members

Going as a group? Recreating the members’ own BTS Halloween costumes is a guaranteed hit. Each person picks a member and copies his costume: the 2014 villains, the cute 2016 characters or the 2017 Snow White and the dwarfs (whoever ends up as Snow White in rock-paper-scissors wears the dress, just like in the video). It works with 7 friends, but also with fewer: you can just do a Snow White and dwarf duo.

Dope costume: the music video uniforms

If any BTS outfit was born to be a costume, it is the one from “Dope” (2015). In the concept photos and the music video, each member wears the uniform of a different job, which makes it really easy: you can put it together with clothes you already own.

  • RM: military look
  • Jin: doctor, in a white coat
  • SUGA: navy officer
  • j-hope: race car driver, with a helmet
  • Jimin: office worker
  • V: detective, with a bow tie and magnifying glass
  • Jung Kook: police officer

BTS costume ideas for girls and guys by era

It doesn’t have to be a “character” costume: a look inspired by a BTS era already counts, and you can wear it again later. BTS costume ideas for girls and for guys start from the same idea; what changes is the piece (skirt or pants, corset or shirt). Some eras that work really well:

  • Boy With Luv (2019): pink everything, from the suit to the sneakers. The easiest one to pull off as a group.
  • Dynamite (2020): retro and colorful, with bold colors, prints and old-school styled hair.
  • Butter (2021): pop and full of style; rewatch the music video and pick your bias’s look.
  • Blood Sweat & Tears (2016): the elegant, dark option, with classic-style shirts and refined accessories.
  • ARIRANG (2026): the current era, in red, black and white. Red or black leather, a corset, a skirt or shorts, and boots.

For the ARIRANG era, red is the official color of the album’s visual identity. These three outfit ideas work both for a party and for a concert:

BT21 costume

For a kids’ party, a couple or anyone who prefers something cute, a BT21 costume is perfect. The characters were created by the members themselves in 2017, with LINE FRIENDS, and each one has his own:

  • Koya (RM): the sleepy blue koala
  • RJ (Jin): the fluffy white alpaca
  • Shooky (SUGA): the mischievous brown cookie
  • Mang (j-hope): the little horse in a mask
  • Chimmy (Jimin): the yellow puppy in a hoodie
  • Tata (V): the red heart with an alien face
  • Cooky (Jung Kook): the pink bunny with brown eyebrows
  • Van: the robot that represents ARMY

We couldn’t find an official BT21 costume for sale, so DIY is the way to go: a onesie or hoodie in the character’s color, a headband with the ears (felt and wire do the trick) and the little face cut out of felt or craft foam. Licensed BT21 pajamas and hoodies help too.

ARMY and ARMY BOMB costume

The ARMY BOMB costume, inspired by BTS’s official light stick, is one of the most requested and most creative. The giant version is made with a clear ball (or a big balloon) on top of a black tube, with the BTS logo on the front. If you prefer something more low-key, just wear a hat or headband shaped like the light stick.

And an ARMY costume? This is where creativity wins: purple from head to toe, a BTS T-shirt, your own ARMY BOMB in hand and heart stickers. Everything about the light stick is in our ARMY BOMB guide.

To finish off any costume, add necklaces, bracelets and keychains with a BTS theme.

BTS makeup for Halloween

  • ARIRANG-inspired: red and black smoky eyes, bold eyeliner and red lips.
  • For the 2014 characters: pale skin and dark circles for Dracula or the Grim Reaper, the Joker’s painted smile or Chucky’s stitches.
  • Cute, for BT21: very pink blush on the cheeks and a little heart or the character’s face drawn on.
  • Sticker makeup: face stickers and temporary tattoos with the BTS logo, hearts and stars do the job in minutes.

Wearing a costume to a BTS concert: is it allowed?

In 2026, BTS and Halloween meet: the last of the three ARIRANG tour dates in São Paulo, Brazil, falls right on October 31, at the MorumBIS stadium. As of this guide, no official rule about costumes had been published. Live Nation, the organizer, said fan club projects would not be authorized and asked the audience to follow the list of allowed and prohibited items.

Our tip for BTS Halloween costumes on that date or at any other concert: check the official list of allowed items before you leave home, go for a simple costume with no large, heavy or pointy accessories, and remember the show is long and in a stadium. Everything about the tour is on our ARIRANG tour page.
